Bravo!
Bravo to last night's fifth grade performers of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The joy of the young thespians was contagious and made it a real treat for the audience.

SNOW DAY - Lenox Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 4, 2024 due to weather conditions and high winds impacting the power grid.

Lenox Public School Students Prepare for the Solar Eclipse on Monday April 8th.
LPS is using the first total solar eclipse in 7 years, and the last solar eclipse visible in Massachusetts for over the next 20 years, as a learning opportunity for all students. Students and families from Morris and LMMHS are invited to a viewing event that will be held at LMMHS. If cloud cover prevents outside viewing, the Duffin Theater will be opened for NASA's live streaming. Learn some of the scientific reasons for eclipses and enjoy some pizza!
Every LPS student and staff member in the district will be provided with “eclipse glasses” for safe viewing whether or not they plan on attending this optional after school viewing event.
Lenox is outside of the 100% totality zone running from Texas to Vermont in a 115 mile wide swarth. We can expect to experience about 90% totality. The solar eclipse begins at 2:12 pm, reaches its maximum at 3:27 pm (the middle of a 4-minute period when the moon will block out the sun) and ends at 4:37 pm.
Please indicate if you plan to attend by completing the survey found at this link:

Dr. Collins would like to provide the following safety tips to all Lenox students, families, and staff, courtesy of NASA:
- It is not safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.
- Always inspect your eclipse glasses or handheld viewer before use. If torn, scratched, or otherwise damaged, discard the device.
- Always supervise children using solar viewers.
- Do NOT look at the sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury.
- Do NOT use eclipse glasses or handheld viewers with cameras, binoculars, or telescopes.
- Even during a partial or annular eclipse, or during the partial phases of a total eclipse, the sun will be very bright. If you are watching an entire eclipse, you may be in direct sunlight for hours. Remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, and protective clothing to prevent skin damage.

Lenox Public Schools wishes our Paraprofessionals
Happy Paraprofessionals' Day!
Thank you for all that you do in the service of children.

Wow! Just Wow!
Last night's LMMHS production of Mamma Mia in the Duffin Theater was spectacular! If you missed the premiere or simply want to relive the musical experience, there's still time to catch a performance but only 4 more: tonight @ 7PM, next Friday @ 7PM, or next Saturday @ 1PM & 7PM.

LMMHS Spirit Days

More images from Harmony Day

LMMHS students paid a visit to Morris to participate in Harmony Day. They read stories from around the globe and shared their exhibits from the International Fair. The elementary students loved having the "big kids" present to them.

Morris student using the new, and extremely cool, book vending machine as a reward for positive behavior. The machine, which even talks to the students, simultaneously encourages positive behavior and a love of reading.

Our Food Service Director, Shannon Gagliardo, applied for, and was awarded the
Massachusetts Fresh Farm to School Grant! This allows Lenox Public Schools to purchase two hydroponic grow towers, one for Morris students and one for LMMHS students to use!

Our newly formed middle school robotics team, "Enginuity 2B" won the Sportsmanship Award at the Berkshire County Robotics Challenge. We are all very proud of them!

For breakfast students had some fresh fruit and yogurt parfaits made with fresh strawberries, granola and Organic Vanilla Yogurt from Side Hill farm in Hawley, Mass.
This week's apples are Honeycrisp from Klein's Kill Fruit Farm in Germantown, New York, and Jonagold apples from Pine Hill Orchards in Colrain, Mass.

It has been a delicious week to be in Lenox!
LMMHS took a culinary trip around New England and New York with local foods from Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York. The salad bar had a baby spring mix from Little Leaf Farms in Danvers, Mass., roasted butternut squash from Plainville Farms in Hadley, Mass., and feta from Maplebrook Farms in North Bennington, Vt. Maplebrook Farms makes their own feta ( and other handmade artisan cheeses) with milk from their Vermont-raised cows. Pictured is a beautiful fresh strawberry and feta salad, tossed with Ms. Derouin's homemade balsamic dressing.

Over a third of the students at Morris decided to get breakfast at school this morning! And, it is no wonder as the bacon and eggs look delicious.

Our Food Service Director got fresh.... fresh food that is!
Shannon Gagliardo is doing some amazing and yummy things in our school cafeterias.
This week at Morris, students got to try local red skin potatoes, from Jekanowski Farm in Hadley Mass., that were used to make delicious home fries at breakfast and served with our ham egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches.
Our elementary salad bar was set up to make a harvest salad with carrot sticks from Kitchen Garden Farm in Sunderland Mass., local greenhouse grown Baby Green leaf and Baby spring Mix from Little Leaf Farms in Danvers, Mass., fresh broccoli and, something new to our students, some roasted Butternut squash from Plainville Farms in Hadley, Mass. Students also had the beautiful pickled vegetable salad (in the photo) using the local carrots and some purple daikon radish also from Kitchen Garden Farms.
We have some new apple varieties arriving for students to try from Klein's Kill Fruit Farm in Germantown, New York. This week we had an assortment of Crimson Crisp and Snapdragon apples.
Next week, students will see some homemade fruit and yogurt parfaits made using organic vanilla yogurt from Sidehill Farms in Hawley, Mass. This yogurt is made with milk from grassfed cows that are raised right here in Massachusetts!
Stay tuned for upcoming stories about the fresh food adventure at LMMHS.
