Public Notice
Vacancy Lenox School Committee
I am delighted to announce the results of the Morris School Assistant Principal Search: Ms. Holly Soules is scheduled to join the Morris School Family on July 1st as Asst. Principal. Ms. Soules is no stranger to Morris; her children are alumni. Ms. Soules comes to Morris as a school administrator from a neighboring school district.
The plan is to prepare Ms. Soules for assuming the principalship of the Morris School over the next 3 years . In year 4 (2027-2028 ), when Principal Kelley becomes the full-time Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment Director for preK-grade 12, Ms. Soules should make a seamless transition to lead Morris already knowing the students, families, staff, culture, programs, and budget well.
Please join me in welcoming Holly Soules to the Lenox School Community!
It's National School Nurse Day
Thank you Nurse Shove and Nurse Drees!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of our Lenox Educators !
There will be a community celebration held in the Morris School gymnasium to honor our Massachusetts Elementary Principal of the Year, Brenda Kelley, on Tuesday, May 14th @ 6 PM.
Current and former students, families, & colleagues are invited to attend as Lenox pays tribute to Principal Kelley.
On behalf of the students and staff of Lenox Public Schools - THANK YOU!
Thank you for the collaboration between the School Committee, Finance Committee, and Select Board in developing and supporting the school budget. Thank you for the Town Manager's expert guidance.
Thank you to the townspeople who turned out to vote UNANIMOUSLY to pass the school budget! We are fortunate to learn, teach, and work in a community where the value of public education is recognized and children are cherished.
With much gratitude for your support,
Dr. William Collins
This morning Morris School students, families, and staff participated in the Massachusetts Safe Routes to School's Walk-to-School event. A large number of participants walked from Lilac Park and to the Morris School. The Lenox Police and Fire Departments ensured that everyone arrived safely.
Student/Parent Reunification Preparedness Underway at LPS -
Last Thursday, the Morris School, Lenox Police and Fire Departments, held a reunification drill. All students were relocated off campus and a small group of parents volunteered to come to the relocation site to test parent-student reunification procedures. While a reunification is statistically unlikely to occur, having a well thought out reunification plan will avoid a chaotic scene should a relocation event actually arise.
Yesterday, Trooper Guilbault, our State Police School Liaison, led a reunification training for LMMHS staff. Both Chief O’Briens and SRO Colvin participated.
U.S. News & World Report has released the list of schools nationwide that have achieved the status of U.S. News Best High Schools and LMMHS made the list!
Congratulations to the students and staff on achieving this honor!
Congratulations Principal Brenda Kelley on being named as Massachusetts Elementary School Principal of the Year!!!

Mrs. Kelley, through her kindness, warm personality, and compassionate nature, is able to navigate challenges and cultivate a remarkably positive learning environment. Through effective communication and a willingness to listen, Mrs. Kelley has built strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members, creating a sense of trust and unity that is truly exceptional ,” said, Parent of Morris Elementary School.

SNOW DAY - Lenox Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 4, 2024 due to weather conditions and high winds impacting the power grid.
Lenox Public School Students Prepare for the Solar Eclipse on Monday April 8th.
LPS is using the first total solar eclipse in 7 years, and the last solar eclipse visible in Massachusetts for over the next 20 years, as a learning opportunity for all students. Students and families from Morris and LMMHS are invited to a viewing event that will be held at LMMHS. If cloud cover prevents outside viewing, the Duffin Theater will be opened for NASA's live streaming. Learn some of the scientific reasons for eclipses and enjoy some pizza!
Every LPS student and staff member in the district will be provided with “eclipse glasses” for safe viewing whether or not they plan on attending this optional after school viewing event.
Lenox is outside of the 100% totality zone running from Texas to Vermont in a 115 mile wide swarth. We can expect to experience about 90% totality. The solar eclipse begins at 2:12 pm, reaches its maximum at 3:27 pm (the middle of a 4-minute period when the moon will block out the sun) and ends at 4:37 pm.
Please indicate if you plan to attend by completing the survey found at this link:

Dr. Collins would like to provide the following safety tips to all Lenox students, families, and staff, courtesy of NASA:
- It is not safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.
- Always inspect your eclipse glasses or handheld viewer before use. If torn, scratched, or otherwise damaged, discard the device.
- Always supervise children using solar viewers.
- Do NOT look at the sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury.
- Do NOT use eclipse glasses or handheld viewers with cameras, binoculars, or telescopes.
- Even during a partial or annular eclipse, or during the partial phases of a total eclipse, the sun will be very bright. If you are watching an entire eclipse, you may be in direct sunlight for hours. Remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, and protective clothing to prevent skin damage.
Lenox Public Schools wishes our Paraprofessionals
Happy Paraprofessionals' Day!
Thank you for all that you do in the service of children.
Wow! Just Wow!
