GOVERNOR PATRICKS YOUTH COUNCIL Students ages 14 20 who are motivated, passionate, and responsible and can give a two-year commitment to represent your county should apply for the Governors Statewide Youth Council. Application in guidance or at www.mass.gov/governor/youthcouncil.
STUDENTS AGES 16 OR OLDER The Berkshire Writers Room is holding their 3rd annual writing competition for students 16 years or older. This years category is Flash Fiction. There is 2 categories, 6 prizes, 4 honorable mentions. Category 1 is fiction 100 250 words and category 2 is fiction under 100 words. 1st prize is a $50 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble 2nd prize is a $30.00 gift certificate and 3rd prize is a $10.00 gift certificate to Juice n Java. More information is posted on a flyer outside of guidance. Deadline to submit entry is April 1 May 31.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES OR JUNIORS A Unique Volunteer Opportunity The Tanglewood Young Ambassadors Program is available to anyone will be 16 years of age by June 2014 or older. The student must be willing to donate a minimum of 20 hours a week volunteer at Tanglewood this summer providing help with activities offered at Tanglewood; Family Fun Fest, The Instrument Playgrounds, Watch and Plan and other volunteer projects. They are seeking someone who demonstrated leadership skills in school and /or community. There is an application available in the Guidance Office for anyone interested. The deadline for the application is Friday, May 2nd. Please stop by guidance to pick up an application or to learn more about this unique volunteer opportunity.
JUNIORS Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship for Junior student-athletes is available now. Apply online to www.positivecoach.org/scholarships by May 31st. 62 scholarships ranging between $1000 and $2000 are available. More information posted outside of guidance.
PROM TICKETS The junior class will be selling prom tickets starting Wednesday, April 30th until Friday, May 2nd during 2nd and 3rd lunches. All dues must be paid and all detentions must be served before you can buy a ticket. Dues will not be collected at the ticket table. Please see Ms. Wespiser if you have any questions. The cost of the ticket is $30.00 per person.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP AT THE BIDWELL HOUSE MUSEUM IN MONTEREY - The Bidwell House is a Berkshire colonial history museum housed in a 1750s home. The house and collection tell a fascinating story of the early settlement of our county. The museum is offering a two week internship to high school students. Students who finish their internship will receive a $200.00 stipend. Applications can be found at www.bidwellhousemuseum.org.
