The Festival of Trees is going ON SAFARI and we have some trees on display! The following middle school students have worked together to create four trees: Rebecca Lagonia , Lucy Cooper, Marley Gamberoni, Sophia Tisdale, Maddie Barenski, Matthew Shields, Mateo Phillips, Ted Yee, Jonah Kruszyna and Maxime Léger . The Festival of Trees will be open from November 14th thru January 4th!
Winter Concert – will be held on January 7th at 7:00 p.m. All High School and Middle School ensembles are performing. Highlights are sure to include the HS Concert Band’s performance of music from West Side Story and the choral performance of The Human Heart from the Broadway musical, Once on this Island. Hope to see you there!
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Attention Juniors and Seniors – Internship opportunities are available at Berkshire South in Gt. Barrington. Openings in Special Events and their Preschool are available. See Ms. Romeo for more information.
Doctor for a Day – If you are a junior or senior with a serious interest in becoming a doctor consider applying for the “High School Doctor for a Day” program scheduled for Thursday, March 19th. The selected students will have an opportunity to share the expertise of a physician mentor in the daily practice of medicine. The deadline to apply is January 23rd. Internship – Internships are available in Becket at SculptureNowdoing doing website maintenance or working in their educational programs. See Ms. Romeo.
SAT – The next SAT Testing date is January 24th. The regular deadline is December 29th. Information concerning the Spring SAT Course for Juniors will be coming within the next few weeks.
Senior Scholarships – Applications for the Big Y, LEA (Education), and Henry David Thoreau (Environmental Science) Garden Club Federation, Order Sons of Italy in America, Red Pine, Stephen Phillips, National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts – a complete listing is in guidance or on our Web Page…
Senior Scholarships - The winter holiday break is a great time for students to complete scholarship applications. Interested seniors should check out TuitionFundingSources.com. A reminder that multiple local scholarships arrive weekly and is posted on our web page under Guidance Department.
Sophomore and Junior Scholarship – any sophomore or junior who is financially aid eligible and has a strong academic promise can apply for the Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of four years. A great opportunity for those who need financial assistance, in order to attend a college/university, to have a scholarship in place before applying to the college/university of their choice. Science Essay Contest – Open to all students who are 13 years of age prior to Saturday, February 7, 2015. Write an original essay created exclusively for The DuPont Challenge. Essay must address a topic that falls under ONE of the four categories concerning a science – related topic.
